it's not only me but others, people who say the same thing I do

what the fuck happened to video games!?

their all repackaging and re hashing games to the brink of insanity, we ask, are the developers running out of ideas? just why are these games now days going to hell in a hand basket?

then, it occurred to me why,

level design,

in portal 2 I had realized that the game was great because level design, they use the whole room and leave nothing open ended

don't believe me?

play halo's silent cartographer map or 007 on N64 their was only one way to solve those missions (i.e. nothing open ended)

confused yet? then let me simplify, in today's games we congratulate people for copying and pasting the same crap over and over again and call it great level design, why? "Because they notice that chair misplaced in the corner!" wow!! so REALISTIC!!!, realistic, yes, but does it have a purpose? all the levels to day have these extra rooms but what ever for?

this is where I realized what was wrong, now I know I said portal had no open ended ness, some probably said "explain the rat man holes smart guy" in a smug way, but that's also exactly my point THEY, HAD, PURPOSE, an achievement, that's where, like I said, I went back, back to the most memorable games and realized what is wrong

everything in games before now had a purpose super Mario world had no branching paths and when it did it had a reward, a short cut and a few coins for that much needed 1-UP, metroid, I realize, is the direct opposite, but again, you explored every path and when you found a secret where did it go? to a reward and I know that some times you don't always go off the path, some times there are areas you could have explored, but think again, it's either a secret or a path you'll cross later on

but again most notably halo's silent cartographer level, though yes its open ended, think about its lay out, you go from the beach to the control center, the emergency override, back to the control center, and back on the beach, you essentially go around in a circle, but in the end that's all the island has to offer

now a days with games like crysis 2 and Call Of Duty-MW they have that open ended ness they promise but like any "open ended game" what can you really do? on modern warfare though it appears 'open' the environments are very narrow and crysis has so much space I actually get overwhelmed and don't know what to do not only that but they both have a sever lack of cover, either I can't use "that" on MW or I get caught anyway on crysis

now I'm not saying its all bad, based on what game you use it's actually good like the conduit, but the word we use is misplaced, 'open ended' implies freedom and from what I've learned from coding is that, that 'freedom' is programmed in, so I guess its not so free is it? open scale applies better since you can move through but on a set path, right? since after all, that's what's happening still today, despite what were told by developers, in the end though my point is that the reason games today are so awful is because, what I learned from portal 2 and so many before it, the environment, and all space in it, is wasted

what ever happened to planned cordination? i mean in animation... whatever happened to character development for that matter? or visual queues? just WHAT HAPPENED!?


i ask myself this every day when i turn on the tv to find 4kids on the label, the animation for batman looking like the ass end of a mule, and cartoon network becoming real <-*cough* *cough* 90's nick *ah-heh-hem*) i mean its not technicaly a cartoon network if theirs real shows mixed in, and no despite what youi think chowder and flapjack aren't real carttons because cartoons are full of jokes that make you laugh these are just random and even then i find myself trapped, because gaming companies think realisim and physics are the wave of the future (more on that later)

1) to make humor it has to be a tall tale truth, like what george carlin or dane cook do, the joke may be abstract but i bet 90% of you have caught someone saying out loud while laughing "true!" and even if it not, like off of the first scary movie where the girl gets stabbed to death while the news crew stands by and watches, you'll still laugh and even though many won't say it out loud you still think humorously "why the hell would you be excited about dying?!", point is that a joke is proper when you can bend it both towards a dramatical truth and a blown out of proportion lie <-like a tall tale)

2)randomness is funny, but only when its controled chaos, you all know of tex averies famous hallway gag? where they just run all over the place in an eight door hall and more and more crap gets added like elephants a steam boat a train and (somehow) an airplane thats controlled chaos because you get the joke how is that all possible? but its humorus because you smile about it and giggle, its also random to have the character do off the wall things, like if he hooked the back of a car and rode it down the street and had hs shoes catch fire? instead of freaking out he lookes around him and finds some water and just puts it out. the same thing happens when they blow themselves up like a balloon they jst keep getting bigger and bigger but never pop! again point is randomness is a two way street it can be used for humor but it could also be used for inovation (you know thinking out side of the box?)

3) lastly whats the difference between humor and hilarity? humor you smile or giggle to, hilarity you laugh hard and loud

now whats strange is that all of these go back to my original point visual queues and development if they aren't meticulously planned they take away from the overal experience, the reason why i started with jokes is because thats the most simple and straight path, its a short story we already know the background to, we start here then build up to overall plot and finally story arc in the end its just building blocks, most of us who write stories probably started with short gags then went to jokes and when we finally got bored we decided to make a real story to pot them in, but heres the kicker none of us realized it until now when i mentioned it,-- end 1

this may come as a shock to all of you but keep in mind what i'm trying to say and not what is said, read this to the end, i don't mean to offend but a point needs to be made

they force you into it, i'm serious its like they trap you into believing <-or should i say buying?) the same shit you can't say this because its racial, you can't say that because someone might get offended, thats sexist to woman take it back, thats my biggest problem sexist language actually all language in general, why is this countries english standard dropping like the bomb in hiroshima? becasue these lesbo dykes try defending the concept of womanhood first off sportsmanship, chairman/chairmen, man on man, these aren't sexist words because by to days standards the have general meaning <-that means more than one) its like the word nigger, why do blacks get offended by it!? its not even racial, the use of negro by anyother race is, but nigger? nigger means an ignorant and/or foolish person <-notice it doesn't imply african american's) thats whats called a general term, george bush was a nigger because he knew the concequences yet he proceeded with them anyway, he knew we needed gas after katrina but he gave it to the troops instead AFTER being advised by the coastguard and besides that his no child left behinde law was put into place cutting coast to study and giving sufficient income to the war effort, obama on the other hand is an observer and is tring to find away to reverse the damage caused by eight years of neglect, so ou see? the people who deliberatly ignore the obvious and choose corruption despit obvious safety are niggers <-like the vilians in indiana jones) sure its a hurtful term but lets save it for the people who really deserve it (politicians despite race, i'm looking at you!)

as for sexist language it's defined as gender specific terms like maiden voyage, stewardess, mankind, manhole cover, and whats the logic behinde this movement? implication it implies only a man can go down the hole, it has to be a girl who must serve you, bullshit!... all of it, it's just a word that implies an object nothing more, if it did imply only men then the definition would say so, but if it doesn't then maybe it doesn't, now whats astonishing is that these ladies seemed to miss the fact the their own gender is a sexist term woman refencing the WOmb on a mans body yet they still except it as a general term just like -cock-(rooster) -pussy-(cat) -dick-(name) -dil-lards (a dil is the english word for penis) he, she, girls, guys, men, and women, yet they let those pass no problem and you know why? they're niggers! they ignorantly started up an organization based around words that they foolishly ignored

i know what your thinking what gives you the right to call judgement on them? well it could be just me, buuuuut you see i have a real woman on my side thats 78 years old and is my english teacher from high school, she's seen progress and change first hand! she knows better then those girls in the offices of the buracracy that their censorship is whats dragging this nations language down, no terms to express the proper feeling for the situation equals street slang <-no wonder we're all idiots) i think she said it best, censorship is what destroies the world, and shes right look at religion they destroied multiple cultires to keep knowledge from corrupting their followers, thats called censorship, europes denile of hitlers rule, the government controling the media its all censorship, thy're deliberatly cutting out the most important peice of history and calling it fixed,  but heres a good saying too, those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, stop censoring people, everyone else pick up a fucking book!!

i wrote reviews to 3 different pictures and every one of them got erased, again i defiled a policy but really whats the point of commenting if i can only be a positive review? this is why i dissagree with 90% of all people because these are the people who indorse 4kids! entertainment <-translation: these people can't take critisisim) so i have three words that sound negative but there are three types of people the good the followers of this rag tag gaggle of shmucks the bad the people who are subtle in reviewing filling there comments with if's and maybe's then there are the ugly the brutally honest who say what they want and care for shit what others think, unfortunatly most of the time these are professionals who have experience and usually what they say goes, unfortunetly that 90% are the people and adminisrators of deviant art who run the show, they don't want hate mongering or cursing or a written response to somones beliefs but neither did the government want to leave any child behinde its an impossible effort STOP TRYING!! this is where most people screw up and try to stop the conflict by controling it, instead of indorsing it, so i made an off comment about someones art, for one you don't censor someone if you don't know what was implied its text you don't know if they were yelling or just kidding EVEN WHENS ITS WRITTEN LIKE THIS so don't act like you do! 2) if they can sign up then they can perfectly well defend themselves don't fight their battles for them let them sort it out themselves even if its a 'troll' people can still be rationalised with, you just need to speak their language

in short stop it with all the deletions some people aren't being serious, like i said theres no way you can go through life without stepping on a few feet and a couple of toes

anyway i came back from the art institute of atlanta recently yes i did drop out but for good reason, i was going to get my bachelors and become a game designer, you see i always plan stuff out in my head to the point of absolutiion, the flaw of my planning is that i never looked into other schools or researched what was happening at the institute that would or should have changed my mind but i didn't and proceeded to make the mistake of a near life time the art institute is about anything but art or anything media related matter of fact the best way to describe them is that they cheat you out of thousands of dollars, i know i know "how do you know?", because i took a weekend to do my research, when most teachers are free, there was one thing that bothered me and thats what the teacher said in character and object design COD he said we wouldn't learn how to do objects in his class but in sculpting and sculpting said they never teach drawing, so i started in another COD class where they told me the same thing i went to the next class except sculpting told me what i wanted was in character rendering, rendering said it sounded like i wanted inking inking sent me to 3D modeling, pretty soon i had passed all of the computer classes and landed in regular classes in the backlot of the campus where i asked the fashion and design teacher who teaches me how to draw characters and designs and she said they have a class specifically for that in building 100 character and object design

so what did i learn? NO ONES TEACHING ANYTHING THERE!! they put it off on other classes and expect them to fill the gaqps for them meaning no one's gaining any feild experience what so ever, whats worse is when i came back i couldn't visualize anymore and i had lost both my drawing capabilities and my imaginative inovation and i should have geussed something was wrong when a school full of animators and game designers say your ideas aren't as important as your job, well gee then how did they make anything if no one had IDEAS!!

shit

so thats why i need help i'm afraid they brain washed me and the side effects are permanent--HELP!!
